Sage advice from the leader of one of the greatest leaders in history - Cicero of Rome

The budget should be balanced,
the treasury should be refilled,
public debt should be reduced,
and the assistance to foreign lands
should be curtailed
lest Rome become bankrupt.
People must again learn to work,
instead of living on public assistance.

Cicero

  1. Rome two thousand years ago was a great empire - but it tried to do too much and the cost of those entitlements weakened the government. We have to start somewhere - it is by far easier to ignore the problems we are facing than it is to say enough is enough. No one wants to lose - but - for our children we are going to have to do so.

  2. Are our current leaders on state and federal levels up for the challenge of making the hard decisions that the Romans were faced with back then? I am not sure - better to get new blood in the system.

  3. I think we can all lean something from this. Maybe Augusta and Washington can also.
